A new primary school, early childhood centre, and community facility in Dalmellington, East Ayrshire.
The project, for East Ayrshire Council, was procured through the Hub South West.
The design embraced BIM. 3D models of the structural steel frame and foundation were generated and integrated with the architectural model. The completed building is extremely energy efficient and has been assessed with an ‘A’ energy rating.
During the construction phases, local pupils were offered work experience, and additional apprentices were employed on-site, with site visits and engagement events organised to provide an insight into the construction process and progress with the build. One of the students designed a happy corner for the playground, which was incorporated into the design.
The project was handed over in spring 2020.
