Olive School, Manchester

Value - £8m | Client - Conlon Construction

A new £8m energy-efficient primary school for Star Academies.

This is a new, two-form entry primary school with community facilities in Cheetham Hill.

Designed by Bowker Sadler Architecture, the two-storey school will provide 420 student places and feature external facilities including a MUGA, sports pitch, play areas and car parking.

Our services include geoenvironmental, civil, structural and building services engineering design.

Being constructed by Conlon Construction, the school has been procured via the Department for Education (DfE) Construction Framework for Star Academies.

With an ambitious goal set by the DfE, the school aims to achieve net zero in operation. Our MEP team has conducted energy monitoring and reporting and advised on the measures to be adopted in the MEP design to achieve sustainability and net zero carbon targets. The energy strategy involves high-efficiency systems, effective controls and the integration of renewable energy sources such as roof-mounted photovoltaic panels.
