A proposal by Patrick Properties and McGoff Group to transform the site of the Mercure Hotel in South Manchester secured planning approval by Trafford Council this week.

The two-acre site, located within the Bowdon Conservation Area, will include a care home, day nursery, apartments and townhouses. As part of the plans, two of the historic structures on the site will remain. The Bowdon Hydro will become a 95-place nursery, while the villas will be repurposed as four two-bed and two three-bed apartments.

To the north of the villas, there will be six townhouses, comprising two four-bed homes and four five-bed ones. At the southern end of the site, fronting Marlborough Road there will be a 51-bed care facility with a courtyard garden.

Clancy was engaged early on the scheme to provide geoenvironmental advice. Chris Acton, Clancy Director, commented, “Our relationship with McGoff Group dates back nearly 20 years now, delivering high-quality residential and care schemes across the country. This scheme, situated just down the road from our head office, will be a stunning development once complete”.
