Cheers to 50 years

As our 50th anniversary comes to a close we take a moment to look back over the last 12 months and reflect upon a year of celebrations.

We were thrilled to have reached our 50-year milestone in 2022. With the industry having had a challenging previous couple of years we were keen to recognise this achievement and mark this momentous occasion for the business.

It has indeed been a very busy year for Clancy. Throughout 2022 we’ve been hosting various fundraising events and initiatives across the UK, from bike rides to bowling, kiltwalks to 50km coast walks, sleepouts, bake-offs and live music nights. We have truly celebrated our golden anniversary in style.

Kicking off the celebrations, our Leeds team hosted their annual drinks reception in February. It was a very welcome get together with our Yorkshire based clients having missed the last two years due to Covid.

In March, members of the team from London, Manchester and Birmingham took part in SleepOut for LandAid, spending the night outdoors to raise funds for LandAid and the vital work they do in delivering life-changing services for young people. Together they raised an incredible £4,000.

Clancy Active took place in May with staff from all offices joined by colleagues, friends and family members, to take part in coastal walks, bike trails and guided city tours. This was a hugely successful event which gathers momentum year after year. Our Norwich team put in a sterling effort by taking on the ‘East Coast Stagger’ a 50km walk in one day starting from Great Yarmouth, and our Manchester bike ride now a firm favourite for our property and construction colleagues in the North West. Clancy Active will return in May 2023, so keep an eye out on how to get involved!

On 9th July we hosted our annual summer party bringing together staff and their families for a weekend of fun with over 220 people enjoying a beautifully sunny day at Carden Park Hotel. Again, sadly missed for the previous two years due to Covid, it was a wonderful atmosphere and lovely to finally spend some social time with our colleagues.

The Norwich team has hosted bake-offs and bowling nights, the latter having now secured itself as an annual event for our industry friends in the region.

Our Birmingham office welcomed guests for a drinks reception in the summer and in September hosted a fabulous live music night, with our very own Scott Lydon and bandmates from ‘Under Construction’ entertaining the crowds.

Then there was The Heb. A rather impressive 200km off-road running, cycling and kayaking event in the Outer Hebrides held over two days which was successfully completed by director Neil Orrock. This ‘race on the edge’ as it’s known, raised over £2,000 for Blood Cancer UK.

During the year, our local teams have joined forces to take part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk, Tough Mudder and the Great Scottish Run, gathering sponsorship and raising money for local charities.

The Clancy 50th party at Manchester’s Cloud 23 rounded off the celebrations, with guests from across the North West and further afield joining us to mark the occasion, and what a party it was.

Our fundraising throughout the year has been for national mental health and wellness charity Mind, and a number of local charities, chosen by each of our regional teams.

Many thanks to everyone who has come along and joined us at our events, supported us, or made a donation, all of which has been very much appreciated.

Cheers to 50 years, and here’s to the next 50!
