A week of fun, fitness, and fundraising draws to a close

As Clancy Active 2024 comes to an end, we share the highlights of this action-packed, fun-filled week.

From cycling adventures to a boat race, our ninth annual event has been a resounding success, bringing together colleagues, friends, and industry partners to get active and raise funds for Cancer Research UK and various local charities. Here's a roundup of the week's activities.

The Birmingham team kicked things off with their inaugural Sportive on Tuesday 11th June. Led by Scott Lydon and Andy Humphries, over 20 riders embarked on a scenic 40-mile cycling adventure through the beautiful South Staffordshire and the Severn Valley. The weather cooperated (just about), and it was a joy to spend the afternoon with colleagues and friends, both new and old. We're eager to grow this event even more next year so, if you want to join the fun be sure to get in touch.

Thursday 13th June saw the London team hosting the highly entertaining 'Great Pedalo Boat Race' at Victoria Park Lake. Teams competed to pedal their way around the lake, providing plenty of laughs and a fair bit of splashing. Following its success we’re sure that this will become an annual event.

Also on Thursday, the North West team and guests took to the roads around south Cheshire for their annual Sportive. British summertime was working against us with a soggy one for all involved, but spirits certainly remained high across the two scheduled routes.

The Norwich team laced up their walking boots for a 13-mile trek from Hoveton to Aylsham. Supporting the Sue Lambert Trust they enjoyed the fresh country air along the Bure Valley Walk. Even the thick, sludgy mud (which delayed them by an hour) couldn't stop the laughter and camaraderie. And, believe it or not, it was the only sunny, dry day in June so far!

There were hikes and hill walks to round up the week as our Liverpool team embarked on a scenic hike from Waterloo to Formby, while team members from Prestwick tackled the trails up Cornish Loch. Both were a great way to end the week on an adrenaline high.

We are delighted to announce that we've raised almost £2,500 for charity so far. Your support means a lot, and there is still time to pledge your support by making a donation on our JustGiving page here.

A massive thank you to everyone who participated and supported, whether you were cycling, walking, pedalo-ing, or cheering from the sidelines. We look forward to doing it all again next year.

“This was a great event yesterday guys. Thanks for organising.”

Paul Heyes, Hollis

“Many thanks to Scott Lydon and Jeremy Silvester and the Clancy team for putting on a brilliant sportive yesterday.”

“A great route, great company… Some glorious Severn Valley scenery more than made up for some changeable weather. There are far worse ways to spend a day…”

Chris Chittock, Dragonfly
